Ode to Kate McKinnon

Recently, I watched "The Spy Who Dumped Me" upon the Internets. The movie was pretty funny. And, frankly, Sam Heughan looks just as good in a tux as he does in a kilt. That has nothing to do with the movie being funny. It's just fact. It is also fact that Justin Theroux and Mila Kunis are pretty delightful to watch in situational comedies. And, it is a hard fact that I would watch Gillian Anderson fold laundry and be utterly amazed at her characterization and grace.

Kate. McKinnon.

Behold the McKinnon in its natural habitat.

Behold the McKinnon in its natural habitat.

She is why I watched the movie and she is why I liked the movie. I think she is brilliant. I love her timing, her subtlety, her fantastic hair, and the precise way she uses her FACE MUSCLES to emphasize a joke.

“Sure, Leah. SURE.”

“Sure, Leah. SURE.”

Seriously. She acts with her whole body. She uses all her muscles to improve her comedy. Her movement and choices not to move feel intentional. And the intent is laughter and connection.

“Never thought of it that way…”

“Never thought of it that way…”

I'll say it again with NO SHAME, I think she is brilliant. I, Leah Wuergler, being of sound mind and body........

I guess I don't have to swear an oath. You believe me. I used all caps, so you know I'm serious.
